Campers on Mission Ministry
Campers On Mission is an organization of volunteers joined together by their love for Jesus and a desire to do ministry. The organization began as a way for people who go camping to do ministry, lead Bible studies and worship, and do childrens activities, while on the family camping trip. The organization has spread to include almost any activity a person can do to help a church or a ministry by a person living on or near the site in their camper. In fact, a person does not have to have a camper to be in Campers On Mission. A desire to minister in the name of Jesus is the main membership criteria.
West Virginia did not have a Campers On Mission Chapter until September, 2006. A group of five families met at Wayside Baptist Church in Buckhannon to form the Chapter. Wintford and Martha Haynes, the national leaders for Campers On Mission, were present to help get the group started.
Campers On Mission is an arm of the Volunteer and Mobilization section of the North American Mission Board. But, each state chapter operates its own business under its own constitution. Members elect officers, decide guidelines, and plan ministries.
