Training

West Virginia Southern Baptists are focused on providing necessary training and conferencing for our pastors and church leaders. It’s not just enough to offer a conference schedule; those conferences and training opportunities must have specific purposes in mind and processes for discipleship, and be strategic to our mission to strengthen and send churches to make Jesus known.

Inspire

October

With a combined focus on personal evangelism, discipleship, and overall church health, INSPIRE exists to motivate pastors and church lay leaders to equate the Gospel to the very sustenance that one needs on a daily basis - leading the people of God, living out the mission of God, marked by the joy of God. Formerly our state evangelism conference, this impactive one day gathering has recently hosted top speakers that include Mark Clifton, Jimmy Scroggins, and Kevin Smith.

Pastor's Conference

November

The WVCSB Pastors’ Conference is a gathering for pastors, by pastors. This one-day conference precedes the WVCSB Annual Meeting. The goal is to encourage, inspire, and equip pastors as they lead their churches in following Jesus and impacting their community. Recent guests have included Johnny Hunt, Jimmy Draper, and Jim Shaddix.

Bivocational Pastors Retreat

February

This two day, overnight retreat provides sessions for both pastors and their spouses. The gathering seeks to promote fellowship, provide guidance, and appreciate our bivo pastors, their wives, and their church. The Bivocational Retreat is made possible by the WVCSB, Cooperative Program, and Bivocational & Small Church Leadership Network.

Strengthen + Send Intensives

Held in regional hubs across the state, we seek to encourage, enrich, and equip West Virginia churches for God’s mission. These gatherings are geared for pastors and lay leaders. Topics have included mercy ministry, generosity and stewardship, church planting and revitalization, small groups and Sunday school, weekend experience, and gospel conversations.

Shepherding the Shepherd

Every other summer, pastors and their families are invited to retreat with other WVCSB pastors and their families during Shepherding the Shepherd. Each day brings hope to the trenches of ministry through family adventures, time alone with God, worship, encouraging teaching, and food and fellowship. A minimal registration fee includes three nights lodging, breakfast and dinner, and books.
